Favorite Feature in LOCAL DISCOVERY

By Brittany Thaler, ACP eDiscovery  My favorite feature in LOCAL DISCOVERY is the Tally feature.  While LOCAL DISCOVERY may not have all the bells and whistles of analytics like OPEN DISCOVERY, Tally can get you a long way in figuring out what you have in your database, what your timelines look like, and how to tackle your review.        The Tally feature in LOCAL allows you to select a column (such as Custodian) and total up the records you have for each custodian.

We can’t wait to show you all the features LOCAL DISCOVERY has to offer your workflow efficiency.  We do want to hit hard on a few key points; this is a pertinent WORKFLOW WEDNESDAY.   This blog isn’t about how to migrate (that can be found here) but rather a best practice workflow once you have completed the migration of one, any, or all of your cases.   Once cases ar

A Different View in LIVE EDA

By Brittany Thaler, ACP   LIVE EDA Search interface is composed of different views and tabs, each designed to provide unique insight into your data.  Where do your eyes go? Here are some of IPRO’s favorite ways of looking at data:  Document View: This view displays all your archived documents.  You can set this view to your preferred way of working, viewing, previewing, and searching documents. Be sure to save the changes you make for sorting and displaying before closing you

TrialDirector Presentation Shortcuts

By Brittany Thaler, ACP eDiscovery  When it comes to Trial presentation, time is limited. To increase your efficiency, try some of our Team’s favorite shortcuts in Presentation:  -AD or -AE Using one of these commands will admit the current exhibit into the Admitted workbook. Save a lot of time using this keyboard command instead of dragging and dropping documents into the folder.   ALT+P This shortcut toggle is for Play and Pause.  I

OPEN DISCOVERY: Customizing an Import Series

By Susanne Strong, Content Developer, IPRO Learning Experience Team  Upon creating a Processing and Review Case in OPEN DISCOVERY, an Import Series is auto-generated. This import series is needed to ingest data into Review. This feature contains the fields required for metadata along with the options for the BEGDOC number to be included in a desired Review Case. While the creation of the initial Import Series is automated, you can always create a customized Import Series, should t

Alias is not the plural of Alien: a Feature in TRIAL DIRECTOR

By Brittany Thaler, ACP eDiscovery  “OMG!?! My wrist is killing me!” Has this thought ever crept into your head while linking exhibits in your transcript? I mean, we likely say this when it comes to redacting, but hyperlinking?!? If your transcript marks a never-ending list of exhibits or simply just needs a lot of references, you don’t need to manually insert every link, one by one: Instead, use an alias! Not aliens, alias.    In TRIAL DIRECTOR, aliases allow you to link a doc

When it comes to document review and creating review passes in OPEN DISCOVERY, we call it “Active Learning.” As reviewers begin document review, and “check-in” batches, the system learns from your input and begins making predictions. TRIAL DIRECTOR Presenting Documents

By Brittany Thaler, ACP eDiscovery  When it comes to Trial presentation, practice makes perfect. To ease your practice and pull up documents with ease, the Learning Experience Team has some recommendations for you:   Set standardized naming conventions for your Item ID, Exhibit Number, and Trial Exhibit Number fields.  If you have a standardized way of entering information into Evidence, that muscle memory will translate with ease onto Presentation.

When you switch to TRIAL DIRECTORyou’ll see a whole world of possibility open up. When you create your ca

On a Mission with eDiscovery — The Series

On a Mission with eDiscovery — The Series By Brittany Thaler, ACP eDiscovery  When it comes to discovery and disclosure, there are always pain points. These pain points can be either physical or mental. For example, you could get pain in your wrist from drawing redactions or struggle to figure out the best way to review 50,000 records.   As a paralegal myself, these are just some of the many reasons I was always searching for ways to improve efficiency.

Production Documents and Your Database

By Brittany Thaler, ACP eDiscovery    We all know that when we produce items in LOCAL DISCOVERY, we can automatically have our bates range, or production numbers, populate in a ProdBegNo and  ProdEndNo field. What do we do about documents that are produced to us though?    Many use the typical workflow of using the BegNo field as a bates range field for these documents and having to search on several fields to encompass all produced documents in the matter. This can be ted
