How to populate the timeline in Eclipse?

With the new timeline feature in Eclipse, we have gotten a few questions lately regarding how to populate the timeline date and what fields you could use. The timeline is powered by the system field called 'DocumentDate'. If you edit the field in Eclipse Admin, you can choose how to populate the field. There is a second tab at the top of the edit menu called Timeline.

In the hierarchy, if you choose no fields, the system is under the assumption that you are loading the dates from either eCapture, or third party data into that field exactly as you would like them.

If you do choose a hierarchy of fields, then as data is loaded, the system will calculate the timeline date for the documents based on that hierarchy. It also looks at the minimum and maximum date values you chose and can populate an individual date per document or can populate the parent date to all attachments.

As far as recommendations go, the Ipro default which will be included in the default Review case template, will be made up of four different fields. In this order, the fields are Email Sent, Email Received, Date Modified, Date Created.

If you are familiar with the Ipro default export field template in Processing (eCapture), each of these four dates is a group field, made up of several other fields. This helps to ensure that for each document and each file type, we are able to populate a date value. For example, the Email Sent date in Ipro's default template includes both Sent Date and Posted Date. Which accounts for different email file types. Each of the other dates is grouped similarly.

Keep in mind, for third party data being loaded with dates, you will want to account for those documents either by adding an additional date field to your hierarchy, or by ensuring that your loaded data is being imported into one of the four default Ipro hierarchy fields.
